A poll conducted by a delivery firm to celebrate Valentine’s Day, asked UK’s online consumers who would they most like to deliver their parcels to them.

Brad Pitt, the Hollywood star of many cinema blockbusters, including Inglourious and Fight Club was top of the list as the person that most voters wanted to see standing on their doorsteps in courier uniform, delivering their parcel, with 12% of the vote.

He only just beat US President, Barack Obama, who came a close second, with third and fourth places taken by the current and ex Mrs Pitt. Lara Croft star, Angelina Jolie was closely followed by Jennier Anniston in the vote.

A same day delivery courier isn’t a job that Leonardo Di Caprio has played in any of his films, but the UK public would still love to see him making parcel deliveries. He was voted the fifth most wanted courier in the poll.

Stephen Fry was the pollsters most request British born courier, followed by football and style icon David Beckham and then Prime Minister David Cameron.

Nearly 2000 online shoppers completed the survey and there were a few random choices, with two people looking for Albert Einstein to calculate the quickest way to get their parcel delivered to them. Other notable selections included Jeremy Clarkson, Helen Willoughby and The Pope.

MAK Couriers can’t promise that they’ll have Brad, Leo or Becks delivering your parcels for you, but it can promise that if you have an urgent parcel that needs to be delivered on the same day anywhere across the UK, we’ll can do it.

Ford triumphs again at the What Van? Awards. It picked up the coveted What Van of the Year 2015 for its new Ford Transit Courier.

The Courier is a new van that’s aimed at businesses who are looking to reduce vehicle sizes to get better value from there transport fleet. It’s aimed at companies that deliver smaller loads in larger vans and offering a more compact van that is more suited to their needs. It’s in the a similar space the the Ford Fiesta Van (which was highly commended in this category) and the Citroen Nemo.

It offers payloads of over 660kg, which is similar to a lot of other vans in this category and but it offers a more powerful engine, which makes it stand out from the rest. Plus its fuel efficient and it comes with an optional stop-start system that would help keep fuel costs even lower.

It looks like a great looking van and one that is likely to be picked up by same day couriers like ourselves for our small local deliveries. Great for small loads to transported between Leamington Spa and Birmingham or between Oxford and London. Or wherever you want to get a same delivery made. Check out some of the locations we cover

There’s nothing like having a little drink at Christmas and last year Tesco Wine customers enjoyed some great wines over the festive period. In fact it was one of our busiest periods of the year for same day wine deliveries for Tesco Wines.

As Tesco Wines’ leading same day delivery courier, we have been ensuring that over the last few years the increased demand for wine same day deliveries over the Christmas period is met. While making sure that we continue to deliver on time and without any damage to wine bottles.

This year we’re expecting the number of bottles delivered to be higher, the number of miles to covered even further and we will be ready.

Businesses should always look to reduce costs without impacting on customer service and quality.

Here are some tips to help reduce your express delivery costs.

1: Consider other postal options than just a same day delivery service.
Does the item need to be delivered on the same day? How much did the item cost? If you’ve just sold an item on ebay for £40, it doesn’t make sense to then payout £30 for delivery costs for same day delivery, if you can wait a few days for it.

2: Make sure you know the dimensions and weight of your delivery.
If you are accurate with this, it will help ensure you are paying the correct amount for your delivery, as couriers won’t have to build in some contingency because your not sure.

3: Consolidate.
Increase the volume sales by encouraging discounts on volume purchases. This can help your delivery cost for the items.

4: Pack Well
If it’s fragile item, don’t send it via postal services. It may be a cheaper option, but you may end up replacing a broken item and then having to pay out for specialist courier service anyway.

5: Work with your courier
Working closely with your courier partner. They are the expert, use it. Ask them for help to improve the way in which you manage your deliveries and make them more efficient.

Who wants to wait five to seven days for the delivery of a case of wine or new pair of jeans. Most people don’t even want to wait two days. What consumers really want is for something to be delivered today. Even next day delivery doesn’t quite cut it for some.

Consumers want it all and they are willing to pay extra for it. They want to have the ease of shopping online and the bonus of being able to have it delivered to their door the same day. It’s the reason why companies like Ebay, Oddbins, Footlocker, Google and Amazon, to name just a few, are starting to trial same day delivery services.

They understand that people want to be able to get hold of the things that they buy as soon as they can. Now just think about how you could really make your customers happy by delivering products to them on the same day.

For most businesses, the cost of setting up the network of drivers, buying and maintaining a fleet of vehicles just isn’t viable, whilst at the same time you want a delivery team that is part of your business.

This is where we can help.

If you want to be able to tap into an reliable extensive delivery network that will be able to pick up parcels within the hour and then deliver anywhere in the UK on the same day. Then get in contact with MAK Couriers.
